They are hoping for around Dec 10th for opening day.
The new Timberline website is so cool! Here's what the Snow Conditions webpage looks like. Can't wait until the trails are marked as Open.
I emailed Timberline to see when they were opening up and they hope to next weekend. As for CV they have delayed their opening to 12/19 due to weather. I am not sure how that could be the case aside from the rain that will then turn into snow this evening in the valley....Temps look to stay in the 30s with lows in the 10s and 20s for the next two weeks. They are also calling for several snow showers that could bring anywhere from 3"-8" total for the next two weeks starting on Monday.
This sounds like it is more along the lines of the state not being prepared to start the season. I could be wrong here, but it just seems a little odd. I think Timberline is also going to be the more reliable mountain out of the two in the upcoming seasons as well.
Even during the season, they have missed good opportunities.

Snowshoe...still making snow at 2:30 Monday morning
CVR...everything is turned off...really
CV is run by the state, I don't think they have the best operations. Still love the mountain though!

Sorry, internet service in Nepal is spotty. Working with the Dali Lhama to open a ski resort in the Himalayas. Do you take Nepalese Rupees?
I’m jealous.

The photo came from this great story (with a fantastic final paragraph) of his visit to NM in 1991: here.
