My wife was talking about heading out to either Liberty or Whitetail on new years eve/new years this year. Which is more likely to have fewer crowds? Neither, I'm guessing, but I haven't skied there on a holiday, just a regular weekend. We'll be putting the kids in lessons and are just looking for a fun, quick trip. Thanks!
My wife is wanting to go to Liberty this new years and learn how to ski New Years Eve (during the day) and then go to the party at night... I am wondering what to expect for crowd levels as well...
Both will be packed and crowded but Whitetail gives you longer runs and a high speed plus the backside, which is rarely has a very long wait

Actually, it's Ski Liberty that has the Backside. The Expert's Choice lift at Whitetail serves a set of diamond runs and, as you said, is rarely crowded.

Thanks for the input; sounds like a crapshoot! Either way we're skiing, right?

Liberty is also open late on Friday night (until 1am). Special lift ticket prices too ($40 for 5pm to 1am; $20 for 9pm to 1am). With the purchase of the Carroll Valley golf course, they have expanded hotel space and TWO lounge/bars. And, as bousquet19 has noted, the backside on Liberty generally has short lift lines with two quad chairs running.
Thanks, I think we'll make it Liberty this time, it's just a touch closer to us, too.
