Looking more and more likely EVERYBODY is going to get some snow out of this, from Roundtop to Snowshoe. First system is a low pressure moving up the east coast Late Thurs-Fri which could dump significant snow from the piedmont of Virginia, WV, MD and into PA. Very good news for Massanutten, Wintergreen, Liberty, Roundtop & Whitetail. Could be anywhere from 6-12". Second event will be as the upper low pulls in behind it the main system this weekend. This will cause upslope snow giving the mtns of NC, VA and the Alleghenies of WV, MD & PA more snow. Most likely light snow and flurries south of Snowshoe, but north of Snowshoe possibly another foot of snow. Either way, looks like everybody is going to come out of this one a winner. I'll update again later tonight or tomorrow if things change.

national weather service just issued a "special weather statement"...

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=WVZ048&warncounty=WVC023&local_place1=Cabins&product1=SPECIAL+WEATHER+STATEMENT

A WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE REGION BEGINNING THURSDAY AFTERNOON...AND CONTINUING THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT.

THE PRECIPITATION FROM THIS STORM SYSTEM THAT WILL AFFECT THE REGION WILL MAINLY START AS RAIN OR FREEZING RAIN IN WESTERN VIRGINIA AND
THE EASTERN PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA ON THURSDAY. THEN THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE ALONG AND WEST OF BLUE RIDGE...NORTHERN MARYLAND...AND EXTREME NORTHERN VIRGINIA. THEN...FROM FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT...THE PRECIPITATION WILL SLOWLY CHANGE TO ALL SNOW FROM WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA. SNOW SHOWERS WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF ON SUNDAY. ACCUMULATIONS OF ICE AND SNOW ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS SYSTEM...ESPECIALLY WEST OF THE BLUE RIDGE. AT THIS TIME THERE IS
STILL QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS SYSTEM.
