Remember Denton State Park?  PA State Parks is once again hoping to find a partner to re-open the slopes.  This time the idea is to create a 4-season "recreational operation" from the start.  Proposal deadline is early January 2023.

Heh.   They even moved the archery shoot to Sawmill.

They get a ton of snow.... but it is nowhere near any large city that could draw people.

Love to see it reopen.

Nothing is stopping us from popping up there with XC, tele or AT skis.

That's got to be at least 100 miles by car from State College. Williamsport is a little closer, but that's not that populated either. How much vertical drop was there?

I believe it's 600', so similar to Roundtop.

Sawmill north of Williamsport was only 515'.

State's going to have to sweeten the pot up there as you said, there's nothing around it. They're not going to get much investment from the lessee as it won't be their stuff. So the state's going to be footing the bill for most investment, similar to LM. And as we see there, not much changes.

DCSki Lost Ski Area link for Denton here:

Not a ton of vertical, but a fair amount of snow for the area and a steep run (tho I suspect the "66 degrees" is actually a 66% grade)

I had family that lived nearby, and while the vert is short, There is little runout, and one of the trails is about a mile long. Its an enjoyable area for sure.

Would have loved to check it out when it was open, but coming from central Virginia it would have been a long drive.

The surrounding trail system looks pretty sweet.       Hmm, have hardtail, might travel.
