What’s New for 2003: Massanutten

The #4 Double chair at Massanutten, originally installed in 1972, has been replaced by a new (fixed grip) quad chairlift. The new chairlift was constructed by Partek Enterprises. The bottom terminal of the new lift has been moved approximately 30 feet up the Southern Comfort trail to improve crowd control and traffic flow. The top terminal has also been moved closer to lift #6. To accommodate the increased capacity of the new lift, the Southern Comfort trail has been widened at the top and bottom, and additional lighting has been added. Massanutten has also added a new Bombardier snow groomer to its fleet, while improving its snowmaking infrastructure. The lodge and rental shop have been renovated, and a 2,000 square foot expansion was made to the General Store.
