What’s New for 2009: Massanutten Resort 2
Author thumbnail By M. Scott Smith, DCSki Editor

For the 2009-2010 winter season, Virginia’s Massanutten Resort will unveil a new Doppelmayr CTEC quad chair lift, replacing a Borvig double chair that was originally installed in 1972. The new lift will be the first in Virginia to feature a loading conveyor belt.

The new lift will be located to the skier’s left of the original lift, with the load area moved closer to the ski lodge to provide better access. Massanutten is also updating its trail design to provide access to both Geronimo and Southern Comfort.

I think this replaces the "beginner lift" at Massanutten, the short double chair to the left as you're looking up the hill from the ski lodge. They are adding capacity and moving it to skiers left, making less skating/poling to reach the lift up Rebel Yell. Very good.
Now they need to cut a few more advanced trails to the skiers left of the experts quad up to Diamond Jim :-)
