Virginia’s Wintergreen Resort is introducing a flex ticketing plan for the 2009-2010 winter season, and will also be offering several Women’s Ski Clinics.
On December 19, 2009, Wintergreen plans to unveil The Zip — a zip line that will allow riders to travel 900 feet at up to 40 miles per hour in about 30 seconds, 40 feet above the ground. The cost will be $12 per person per ride, with some weight restrictions. The Zip will be located at Discovery Ridge near the top of the mountain.
Guests to Wintergreen Resort will now be able to purchase 4- and 8-hour flex tickets. The sessions begin when the lift tickets are purchased, and 30 minutes will be added to the time for those renting equipment from the resort. In addition to the 4- and 8-hour flex tickets, Wintergreen will sell an extended (9 a.m. to 10 p.m.) ticket and a night (5 to 10 p.m.) ticket, when night skiing is available. (Check with the resort for operating hours before planning a visit; Wintergreen is not open for night skiing on Mondays except for December 28, 2009; January 18, 2010; and February 15, 2010.)
Wintergreen will also be offering a series of Women’s Ski Clinics during 2010. Offered on four fridays during the season (January 22 and 29 and February 5 and 19, 2010), these clinics will be geared to women who want to improve their skiing and riding skills. $95 sessions run from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and include lunch. (Equipment rental and lift ticket are not included, and must be purchased separately.) A package of four Friday clinics is $350.
The weekend of February 19-21, 2010, Wintergreen will offer the Women’s Head Ski/Ride Clinic. This event will include skiing and riding clinics, workshops, dining and social networking for women of all ages. The event will be directed by Alison Gannett, a world champion skier. The cost of the weekend seminar is $350 per person; the weekend seminar can be combined with the four Friday workshops for $650. For more information on these clinics or to enroll, contact Wintergreen at (800) 266-2444.
Wintergreen will also offer a guaranteed “Learn to Ski and Snowboard” program. Starting at $64 midweek for adults and $54 for youths, the program includes a limited area lift ticket, lesson, and rental package. Guests completing the program will be entitled to discounts on additional visits.
