Mid-Atlantic (and beyond) Skiing on the Cheap 2013-14

This is where you post any good skiing-related deals you want to share with the community.

Thanks to fishbane, our first entry:  WNEP Ski Card - Ticket at 9 resorts for $129.99

You get a lift ticket at each of the following ack Frost, Big Boulder, Ski Denton, Gore Mountain, Montage, Mountain Creek, Shawnee, Ski Sawmill and Swain for $129.99 even on weekends.  Good deal.  I’ve got this card in previous season.  There are more participating resorts this year.

Thanks to HockeyDave's steer to Pittsburgh Post Gazette, here are some deals listed by Gazette writer Lawrence Walsh:

Snowshoe will celebrate its 40th birthday Dec. 19 with $14 lift tickets, the rate it charged in 1973. They can be purchased only online at www.snowshoemtn.com

Wisp discontinued its annual low-cost December birthday weekend but has continued its Monday Deal Days. They begin Jan. 6, excluding holidays that fall on Mondays, and offer a lift ticket, rental equipment and a one hour clinic for $39.

Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands will open a new terrain park with a variety of features. Its Neighbors and Friends Night includes a lift ticket and rental equipment for only $25 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays beginning Jan. 3.

The Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association (www.skipa.com) offers a program for fourth- and fifth-graders.

Not a bargain, but pretty interesting Gazette article on all the things Buncher Co did to improve/operate Hidden Valley in their 6 year ownership of the mtn:  http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/ski/2013/11/17/Buncher-Co-improvements-at-Hidden-Valley/stories/201311170037  As a minimally informed outsider it seems the longtime HV property owners could tip their hats in thanks to that group for saving their bacon.

Snowshoe is doing its Kroger lift ticket deal again for the 2013-14 season.  Here's the link to the details: http://www.snowshoemtn.com/plan-your-trip/deals-and-packages/kroger-coca-cola-promotion.aspx

This year you buy three six-packs of the one-quart (500 ml) -sized Coke products.  The usual limitations apply: M-F only, must also buy full-priced ticket, holidays blacked out, and so forth.  A new twist this year, if I'm not mistaken, is that the coupon you receive from Kroger must be redeemed at the Depot in Snowshoe Village.  For those of us riff raff who stay elsewhere and must park in the Soaring Eagle or Silver Creek lots, it looks as if we have to haul over to the Depot before we receive a ticket.

For the value of the ticket: OK, but it'd be nice if the process were simpler.

Thanks for the link. If I read the link correctly (actually url of the link), it's $5 off, not a ticket for $5. Correct?

If you are heading anywhere north of DC to ski you might want to check this link to the mother of all "skiing on the cheap" threads.  It's from AlpineZone and relates to mostly Northeast US ski bargains (2013-14):    http://forums.alpinezone.com/showthread.php/123861-Skiing-on-the-Cheap-2013-14-Edition

Since this is supposed to be a mid-Atlantic oriented thread I won't cite specific New England bargains, besides, then you'd miss the fun of paging through it yourself.  60 pages already by 12/4/13.

They changed this recently to this upcoming weekend - Dec 6 - 8th, with skiing on the 7th and 8th.  I will be taking advantage of the deal this weekend.  PM me if any DCskiers want to meet up at Canaan to make a few turns Saturday or Sunday morning (heading home around noon Sunday)

Massanutten Monday Night Madness starts Jan. 6.  $18 for night skiing 4-9pm, also $18 rentals and free beginner lessons at 5pm or 6pm.  Pretty sure this applies on the holiday Mondays too.  Note that all slopes are lit, including all the blacks.

Hey Doogie, glad you finally reached puberty.  :)

The 9th is on my radar.

Fish - The tickets have to be bought at one of the Sun and Ski stores.  You gonna be in the Valley on the 9th?

Stopped by Sun and Ski yesterday and they are sold out of the $5 lift tickets for Tline.  I was told they had been out for a long time.  They still have $5 tickets for CVR on 1/21/14.  I guess Sun and Ski only appreciates a limited number of their customers.
