Callin' for 6-12 inches here in Canaan tomorrow...who knows what will happen
WOW...who would have thunk it?...this just blow out of nowhere?
Chaga posted a pic of it the other day. That guy is able to take pictures from the future.
woohoo! thanks for the heads up Tucker! Last time I looked it was supposed to be sunny and 40 this weekend. Ski time! Chippy is away but said we could take the fence down across the top of the slope since the cows are gone and make some turns! and there is a 2" cow patty base already
The Mountain Lions have their last home game tonight against petersburg...a snowy one will be extra sweet!
Wouldn't surprise me. They're even talking about possible measurable accumulation inside the Beltway in the swamps of DC! And maybe more.
NWS has upgraded snow accumulation totals to 8"-14". So they really mean 2 feet. Sunday will reveal the truth. (:^O)>>>

don't get to excited Chad...it hasn't started snowing up here yet...
It's still in Ohio afaict.
...OK now get excited, it is starting to snow...
cold rain/wet snow mix for about the last 30 minutes in Elkins too.
nws has 14 in the fcast now! a great set-up too for a nice early dump..a nice soaking rain all day yesterday to bring up the water table, freezing temps over night and cold all day. stay tuned to wg website periodically tomorrow for fresh ski pics! tempted to hit tline also. i hear good things about the new gladed area
They still have 'scenic' lift rides going? That may be worth it

Just to help get everyone in the mood, the Wardensville and Baker areas, have a skiff of snow on the ground with it coming down really hard. 5-8" predicted, and 12"+ in some of the higher areas like north mountain and branch mountain.
Bloomberg Central, Western Massachusetts could see up to a foot of snow (Main stream News headlines)
The above are Headlines that you won't see for WV in the main stream news..Oh well..We know whats up!!
Chaga, Tucker, JonJon, Brian,
How much snow is on the ground. Dave L. seems to have gone to bed early.
This one was a bust here..that is we will probably see the lower end of forecast. We probably have about 3" on the valley floor this 6 AM. They are calling for 4-7 today...but I am skeptical. This storm did the same thing yesterday that the rain storm last midweek did on Wed...They both came from the south with heavy precip potential and split around the valley when coming north. However, during that storm cabin mountain got slammed...so there could be significantly more snow on cabin mountain/dolly sods/t-slime/top of whitegrass. but I don't know for sure yet
Measuring almost exactly 6" on my deck here in Davis.
I'll be interested to see what Lesher reports...guess he's sleeping in this morning???
tucker, I think dave lesher gets bored when the storm doesn't produce as expected? gonna head up to the high spots to ski a little later for sure tho and will report amounts! and hopefully jonjon brought some more dogfish head 90min for the sat nite beer tasting! definitely not riding today tho, but should probably take better care of my bike.

Headin' to McHenry now for a closing. Beverage Shoppe here I come!
Bolivar this morning
several hours, mutiple power failures and a few beers later

I hear that it will be snowing in Happy Valley for today's Penn State / Illinois football game.
Roads must be bad up there; Whitetail is closed.

Zing!
I would say there was 8-12 at most from everywhere we skied. It stopped snowing for a bit, but started again above 3800' in the afternoon. i put a few pics on the wg site and sent to the weather channel, although they seem to consider Snowshoe the only place in WV for snow.

Connecticut got hammered. Over two feet in many spots. 800,000 without power. My family up there is not loving life right now since large sections of CT are on well water, so when power goes, so does your water.
Something to be said for solar + battery backup...
^^ Wow, that was a lot of snow up there! I bet the drive down to the valley was hairy!
