Well, with the monster of a storm set to pound the northeast this week... who has plans to ski it?

Whoever does make it - I'd love to see a trip report / pics once you get dug out!!

Why worry about getting to NE? I think it'll be just as good if not even better in the WV Apps. With the base they have now, another 20+ of snow on top of their bomber base???? Schweet!!

Yours truly and son headed to Northern NH this Sunday, 2/28 for a week of skiing. Hopefully, they have roads cleared between here and there by then. Plan to blog on DCSki each night about our daily ski outings. Trip in works for weeks. Unbelievable.

If you're flying out of BWI, you may not be. Better start checking some weather sites and making some contingency plans. I'm scheduled to fly out on Saturday, not sure if that will happen. (At least this time I may be snowed in instead of snowed out.)

Accu/Inaccu Weather?

All of NE..& of course WV cool will get some great Snows..But setting WV cool aside I'm picking NH as the winner with heavier amounts at Cannon Mtn thru Bretton Woods & over Mt Washington to Wildcat which IMHO looks to be the Winner in the Snow sweepstakes..but who's counting?..its all good!..Have a goodin grin

Wow... Jay Peak and Killington are both reporting 16" as of this morning... and the main storm hasn't even hit yet!

Wait...these places aren't going to catch up with snowfall in WV resorts, are they? These are the types of storms that I used to live for. We would always head to Cannon, Jay, or Wildcat after a big storm. Cost effective alternative to Wildcat is Black Mountain...much smaller but wicked cheap and a great example of classic NE skiing.

Supposed to fly out of BWI at 8am on Saturday. The other half of the party is scheduled to leave Providence, RI about the same time. Keeping our fingers crossed. At least the bulk of the trip would be refundable if we got stuck. The worst might be if half of us got out, but not the other half.

NWS obs at Jay peak at 7am report 14 inches...little heavier than f-cast
The next storm coming up will favor NH with a lot of atlantic moisture bumpin up against the White Mtn's...

I'm headed to Montana Friday afternoon (well, Seattle, then catching the train the next day). Figures.

I'm going to try to plan a mid-to-late-March trip to New England, though. This should help things considerably.
