For those of you who have a desire to race, Timberline will be hosting the WV Governors Cup Race next weekend. It's always a class act when put on by the t-line race department. Even if you're a novice, it's not a difficult course that they set and men, women and children all enjoy racing in it. Go to the timberline web site to get additional info.

Registration is Friday March 6th, 9AM - 8PM
Course Inspection @ 8:30AM both days
Governor's Cup is Saturday & Sunday with 2 runs each day.
Giant Slalom Saturday @ 9:30AM
Slalom Sunday @ 9:30AM


Governor's Cup Awards sponsored by Rossignol & Atomic

The fastest Men & Women will receive a pair of skis

West Virginia blown glass trophies will go to the fastest male & female with combined times

Trophies will be given each day to the top three men & women in the following age groups:

Start Order:
60 +
50-59
9 & under
40-49
10-14
30-39
15-18
19-29

Race Rules:
:: Bibs must be visible

:: No skiing through gates

:: No shadowing

:: All racers must have lift ticket

:: No lift line cutting

:: No fast or reckless skiing on public trails

:: Please no profanity or unsportsmanlike conduct!

:: If ski comes off before 2nd gate from finish, racer is DSQ

:: DSQ's posted at finish

Race Fee $15

** Discount lift tickets are available for racers at ticket window

They have set it in the past starting on upper thunder just below the thunder draft split above mid station. Not too steep which is good for novices and old-timers. you ought to try it! I have done it in the past.

Our favorite is locals' cup. We'll be there for that.

The top man and top woman glass "souvenir" was beautiful.
All the hard work from TLine's racing dept didn't go un-noticed.

Vic, you are dead on right about the race department. The race department and events department are quality for sure. The do an amazing job at every event. Really all the departments in Ski School are tremendous. Ski School at T-line really deserves more recognition in general for the on snow events, programs, terrain parks etc.. that they are responsible for as well as the day to day teaching. Few people realize just how much the Ski School at Timberline is resposible for and how much work they do. It is really amazing what they do and how committed to the sport they are!
