With the snow predicted for tonight. Is anyone skiing T-Line, 7 Springs, or Wisp on Monday?

I may be heading out in the am.

Stafford County schools are out on Monday, so we are staying at TL until some time in the afternoon.

Ugh, I've got to be in Manassas with a client tomorrow at noon and be there till around 3-4. No slopes for me tomorrow.

You dog dog dog Clay! I bet Sherwood's lurking around there until Monday too. I always like starting a work week off right by missing Monday. What's the upslope total tonight? Had to be 3" by the time I left Timberline for home around 5pm in near white-out conditions. I broke a long-standing house rule - Never leave Canaan on a Sunday if there is any sort of snow coming down. Man, my money season is encroaching on my ski time this year. I need a career with an off-season!

Well, it was nice but I've got to tell you, as much as I've been wishing for cold weather this definitely was a "be careful what you wish for" kind of day. I waited until it warmed up (8 by my condo thermometer, 4 by TLine's webpage) before heading out. Lots of natural and man-made powder but boy was it slow. I had changed waxes to Maplus Cold last night and it was still slow. Maybe I should have stuck with my Hot Sauce. I will try that next time.

Anyway, when I went in, it was because my thighs were burning from skating through the slow powder, not from the runs. Definitely good stuff though.

And for all those inquiring minds who read TLine's snow report this morning, Crossroads was indeed open and Crosswalk was closed although I see they've changed it now...

It also sounded like they were grooming Twister (although I couldn't see the groomers). They were not making snow on it this morning. However when we left around 1:00 it looked like the guns were going again.

Their report also shows all of Thunderdraft open plus - upper Thunderstruck? Can't be possible - can it? Also, Snowmaking in progress on OTW and upper Dew Drop. Already looking forward to this weekend!

No, not unless you're walking . Somebody must have been in a hurry updating the report. They were blowing on Dew Drop, but they started that much later than Twister, so I don't know if it will be ready for the weekend.

My group was driving back from Snowshoe last night...had to make it to Morgantown, WV. Snowshoe was fantastic sunday by the way with no crowds and soft snow.....but anyway we were in whiteout conditions and getting dumped on, when we made it to Elkins we couldn't resist the temptation to cut class today and head up to Canaan. We talked the lodge into giving us one of their "January Specials" over the phone, and we got room for 49 bucks. 15 dollar lift tickets at Canaan enticed us to hit that hill instead of TLine. I'm glad we did, Canaan is so fun on powder days. We arrived at 9:10 and we were the 6th car in the parking lot. We skied complete untracked snow directly under the lift until about 11:00, when we had already tracked out Valley Drop/Vista between the 3 of us. We then hit Spruce Run and the 3 meadows, esp. Meadows 3 until we couldn't stand up anymore. Snow for the most part was mid boot deep (knee deep in the drifts on the Meadows) and Utah quality powder. It was 4 degrees when we started, and that kept hte snow incredibly light. We did not seem to experience the slow sticky powder Clay described at Tline, maybe because most of Canaan's trails are open only on Natural snow right now and you don't have that manmade mixed in. NO damage to my bases. By far the best day of hte season.....glad we drove through the blizzard last night to get up there.

for beginners out there Canaan had 2 groomers working hard on Timber Trail...and for you experts the patrollers said that Gravity and Gravity Line had decent coverage, just that there was no outlet....with timber trail and race course ready to open soon, Canaan should be rockin by this weekend with cold temps and more snow in the forecast. Today was epic though, wish I were still there.
