Southwest's website has finally listed Washington Dulles as one of it's hubs (I hated the drive to & from BWI). They are suppose to be flying out of Dulles this fall. SWA's website says that they will be flying out of Dulles to the following ski destinations: Denver, Reno, & Salt Lake City.

Hopefully, they will have some decent fares for some trips out west.

As of now, they will not be flying to Albany,NY or Burlington, VT. I use to be able to get a $89/RT ticket to Albany out of BWI. I would fly out on Friday nite and ski VT for the weekend and be home late Sunday night.

Now if the Reno flight is non-stop that would be terrific!! Thats the killer about Tahoe; takes forever to get there and back with the transfers at Phoenix etc.

You're complaining about Phoenix? I had to transfer in Elko once. The terminal was a double wide trailer. Clearance for take-off meant they had all the coyotes off the runway!

OOOHHH! .. super! We have started planning for this coming season and Tahoe is on the list again; we want to spent more time at Sierra and Northstar. We loved Sierra; great people, lots of stashes, really comfortable homey feeling. Any recommendations for resorts other than the big three [Heavenly, Kirkwood, Squaw]?

Yes, but what is this budget thing? Mine is simple, I owe almost as much as I make but I've learned how to squeeze blood from a turnip, not enough for special clinics though. SW flys out of Pittsburgh now and I have some leads on cheaper lodging around Tahoe. I'll get there some year soon.

About the only squeezins I'm gonna see is the ones during sugaring season, when the sap flows in north country. I'll have christmas to pay down. I'll be a stones throw 'til then.

I skied Alpine Meadows, Squaw, Mt. Rose, & Homewood this past winter. Alpine Meadows was a blast. The front side was Powder/Packed Powder while the backside had big phat spring bumps. If you like fairly steep runs, I highly recommend Palisades & Hole Shot on the front side. We also skied numerous runs down Sun Bowl & CB Chute over to South Face. Ray's Hut is a happening place on the backside. People just hangin out in the sun listening to music. Did I mention the bikinis?
