They still manage to reserve the majesty of the mountains for people who know how to appreciate the grandeur of the mountains and not use it as some sort of fashion runway for the ignorant illmannered who call themselves snowboarders.
Remember what K2 says
"if it was easy, they'd call it boarding."
Welcome to DCSki! Take a page from Taos and try not to use this board in an "ignorant illmannered" way.

Welcome to DC Ski. I would have hoped as a new member that perhaps you had taken the time to peruse previous threads. If you had perhaps you would have noticed that fair percentage of contributors are in fact in favor of the single plank. We all try to live together here with the understanding that it's not so much what you use to get down the mountain so much as that you actually do get down the mountain and have fun doing it.
As such keep your personal bulls**t to yourself.
Kennedy,
You said it. Personally, I'm a two-planker but my best friend rides a board. We both have a good time sliding down the hill together

What I've noticed over the years is that you don't have to be on a snowboard to be ill-mannered

In fact, some of the coolest folks on the hill that I've encoutered were on boards!

When I was at Brighton, Utah during a major powder day, I was out-numbered about 10 to 1 (and wishing I knew how to ride

) the guys were very cool and not one gave me a hard-time about being a two-planker in their world.

EXCUUUUSE ME! But last time I looked this site was DC-SKI, not DC BOARD. No matter what your politically correct sentements may be you've got to admit boarders increase injuries, mess up slope conditions, have little to no skill, and are usually people to uncoordinated tomaster skiing. By and large they have taken a slacker activity and tried to make it into a sport.
If it was a true sport you would not need ridiculously modified snow and worse yet Metal and other unnatural man made structures just to make it interesting.
Please ... don't ... feed ... the ... troll.
Exactly! let them troll down their own mountain
Who do you think you are! DCSKI is a skiing forum but we all welcome boarders and their style of riding. If you take a look at the results from last year's
survay results you will see that a high percentage of DC ski members are snowboarders. I am a skier but almost all of my friends are boarders and I do not mind a bit! You are making broad generalizations and i find it very sad that you would start a post bashing boarders.
Oh and FYI skiers use "unnatural man made structures" as well as boarders.
There sure seems to be an awful lot of " I ski but my best friends are boarders" quotes on here. Looking at those survey results I am beginning to think those numbers may have been hyper-inflated by a few overzealous boarders. I have notice there are hardly any boarders replying to this post.
Maybe they are still learning to use a keyboard.

Elite_skier .. I think you had better look around here before you start calling people names. We are all downhill enthusiasts whether we do it on one, two, three boards or our fannys, makes no never mind. We deal civilly with each other and do not descend to juvenile tactics to be heard. Everyone is welcome here but we expect our fellow posters to contribute constructive comments not troll-speak. Personally, if you continue in this manner, this will be my first and last post to you.
Hey, where is all the love and support. Where are all you anti-boarding enthusiast. Am I the only one who thinks boarders should be banned from more trails. Some trails?
All trails?
I certainly do not intend to offend anyone. I am just stating the obvious.
elitist_skier - Oh God Plllleeeeeeaaaazzzze not this! Ullr kill me now out of pity! Go somewhere else if you want to start a flame-war. This is so totally tired. Everybody knows it ... and some of us (like me) both ski and ride (a little). And let me tell you it is not a slacker sport, and your attitude will soon be gone from the Earth upon your passing. All the new park kids, either on boards or skis, know it; your diatribe is soooo old. You must be doing this just to get attention ...
... OOOppsss JOHNL - I was not suppose to feed the troll ... this is my last one I'll be good.
That is crazy talk. Most of my buds that I go to Canaan with are boarders, so I guess I have a different take on it.
It is nice to hit some slopes where it is ski only ala Alta every once in a while, but not because the boarders have some sort of inherant personality defect - simply because it adds to the spectrum of the whole downhill experience. I am sure the downhill community would benefit from more board only areas. But in general the two seem to coexist well so what is the big deal?
Also I will point out that most of the hot chick who ride are on snow boards.
Folks who post under the name "elitist" are brazen pricks who should be banned from ski message boards.
I certainly do not intend to offend anyone. I am just stating the obvious.
Wow, did somebody's wheaties get wet???? Be it skiers or boarders, we all have our preferences. Personally, I wouldn't give up the two planks for anything, however, a lot of the discussion of one vrs two comes down to ATTITUDE!

My take is that both have their place but not necessairly on the same slopes unless the are accomplished in what they do. I have been taken out by both in SCUD fashion so generalities are hard to make and accept.

I am surprised there are bonobos out there like you that could type. Love and support? You have a funny way of expecting love and support.
Do me a favor, please stop offending everyone with your non-factual so-called obvious statement. I understand you are a juvenile-like simpleton. Just press the Alt key + F4 key many times, move away from your computer, grab a hammer and pound whatever may appease your conscience unless there's none in your cranium of such diminished capacity.
I used to be a skier for over 20 years. I switched to snowboard 6 years ago. From reading this forum over the years, I am willing to try X-country and telemarking someday. I do enjoy backcountry hike using crampons or snowshoes. And .. (pause)
Know what? You may have the last word here. I now realize after reading here which render useless from someone like you. Have a nice day... not.
Bonobos are beautiful animals who are worthy of respect.
Well everyone passed! I am very proud of you all. Not one of you took the and were tempted by the darkside of generelizations or segregation. I hereby declare snowsports lovers to be the cream of the crop in the world of sports. Millenia ahead of the pack in social graces and respect for all peoples preferences.
luv ya all
Now that we have conquered the hot air lets get rid of the heat, and start the leaves a turnin.
