West Virginia’s Snowshoe Mountain Resort received its first snowfall of the season on Tuesday evening, October 16. It was little more than a flurry, with an accumulation of one inch, but it’s a preview of what could be a very snowy winter season. Snowshoe plans on firing up the snowguns in early November, with an anticipated opening date of Wednesday, November 21.

Already, Snowshoe has brought its snowguns out of hibernation and has them lining slopes targeted for an early opening.

The following photos of the recent storm were provided by Snowshoe Mountain Resort’s Kelly Stern.
