The season will begin on Friday morning for three of the resorts closest to D.C. After several days of snowmaking, Ski Liberty, Ski Roundtop, and Whitetail Resort plan to launch their season tomorrow.
Ski Roundtop will be open on Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Three trails will be open with a base depth of 16-24 inches, and two lifts will be in operation. Hours Christmas day are noon through 10 p.m.
Four slopes will be open at Ski Liberty on Friday starting at 8 a.m. Base depth is 5-15 inches and four lifts will be running.
Whitetail will also launch its season Friday morning. Beginner trail Velvet will be open from 8:30 a.m. through 4 p.m., served by the U-Me Double lift. Lift tickets on Friday only will be $15. More terrain is slated to open Saturday, when the resort will be open from 10 a.m. through 10 p.m.
High temperatures tomorrow should stay below freezing. Favorable snowmaking conditions over the next few days should allow open terrain to expand fairly rapidly.
