Just a day after fellow Epic Pass resorts Hidden Valley and Roundtop Mountain open, Pennsylvania’s Laurel Mountain and Whitetail Resorts will begin their winter season at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023. They’ll be joined by Virginia’s Omni Homestead Resort, which also plans to open for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing on Saturday.

Opening day guests at Laurel Mountain will be treated to a DJ and complimentary hot chocolate, cookies, and Nature Valley granola bars while supplies last. At Whitetail, opening day festivities will similarly include music, complimentary hot chocolate, and Nature Valley granola bars while supplies last.

Laurel Mountain aims to have the trails Tame Cat, Upper Broadway, Lower Broadway, Deer Path, and Ski Top available for its season opener. The Laurel Lift will be in operation.

Laurel Mountain recently installed a web camera, so you can check a live view of the slopes.

Whitetail’s opening day terrain will likely include Northern Lights, Velvet, Launching Pad (including a walking park set up), SnowPark, Stalker, and Angel Drop from top to bottom. The Lift Off Quad, First Class Carpet, U-Me Double, EZ Rider Quad, and Whitetail Express will be in operation. Whitetail plans to its snow tubing lanes at a later date.

The historic Omni Homestead Resort has been making snow and plans to have up to three trails open on Saturday, along with one snow tubing lane. In addition to snowsports, the Omni Homestead offers a range of activities including its famous Warm Springs Pools.
