The 2010-2011 winter season is underway at Pennsylvania’s Blue Mountain Ski Area, and guests this winter will find three new trails. Over the summer, a children’s learning trail, Pioneer Pass, was cut. Two gladed trails, Baumer and Sleepy Hollow, were also added. The new trails bring Blue Mountain’s total trail count to 37.
To accommodate growth in the Rental Shop and Learning Center, Blue Mountain has expanded the Summit Lodge. Enhancements were also made to the outside Courtyard eating area at the Summit Lodge. $1.5 million has been invested in snowmaking improvements, and the resort has switched over to an RFID-based lift ticket system, which will allow direct-to-lift access for all passes and tickets. Blue Mountain reports that the passes will be renewable on-line.
