The trail count at Pennsylvania’s Blue Mountain Ski Area rises to 33 this winter, with the opening of Dreamweaver, a new intermediate trail. Lit for night skiing, Dreamweaver is over 100 feet wide along its entire length. Automated snowmaking has been installed on the trail.
Blue Mountain has added a new cooling tower to its snowmaking infrastructure, and installed additional guns along trails. In the valley, Blue Mountain built a new 11,000-square foot Sprung Structure, providing a dining area with a cafeteria, seating for 250 guests, and live entertainment on Thursday nights. The new structure is located near the Tubing Park. Speaking on the Tubing Park, Blue Mountain has purchased a new groomer, bumped up the number of lanes to 19, and installed a new, 620-foot long conveyor lift.
The Valley Lodge has been upgraded with a kitchen, an outside fire ring, and expanded restrooms.
Blue Mountain will also have a new Guest Services Department, and is upgading its rental fleet with new snowboards and skis. In all, Blue Mountain has spent over $3.1 million in capital improvements over the summer.
Blue Mountain is currently being featured on Ski Patrol, a reality show on the cable channel truTV that follows ski patrollers throughout the day and night as they respond to guest situations and emergencies. Ski Patrol was videotaped in two locations: Blue Mountain and Washington state’s Crystal Mountain.
