Wisp Resort Unveils Canopy Tour

July 10, 2010 — Expanding the number of recreational opportunities available to summer visitors, on June 28, 2010, Wisp Resort unveiled its new Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour. The guided canopy tour allows participants to glide along multiple zip lines, experiencing the Maryland resort from a different and loftier perspective.
Priced at $39 per person, participants are outfitted with a climbing harness, two safety tethers, a micro-trolley, safety helmet, and gloves. After a training session, participants scurry up a cargo net to a platform. A 160-foot zip takes guests to a 3-point rope bridge which they must navigate before reaching a 12-foot high platform. A 150-foot zip will take guests to a Plank Bridge, followed by a 180-foot zip to the Eagle’s Nest platform, providing a view of McHenry Cove on Deep Creek Lake. Two exhiliarting 400-foot zips will close out the tour.
“I thought it was going to be fairly tame, but oh man, it is not!” exclaimed Tim Prather, General Manager of Wisp, after being one of the first to experience the canopy tour. “I felt like an eagle landing on a postage stamp.”
