DCSki Introduces New Features to Track Resort “Tweets”

November 15, 2009 — The Twitter microblogging service allows individuals and companies to create and share short text-based updates called “Tweets.” Over a dozen ski areas in the mid-Atlantic region have created a presence on Twitter, using Twitter to post announcements and information. DCSki now captures these updates and makes them readily available to skiers and boarders, whether or not they have their own Twitter account.
DCSki regularly monitors Twitter looking for updates related to mid-Atlantic ski areas. A new feature presents a chronological view of recent resort Tweets right on DCSki’s home page. You can click on a ski area name to view DCSki’s complete profile for the resort, or click on the blue arrow to view a specific Tweet directly in Twitter. (If a Tweet contains a link to another page, you’ll need to first click through to Twitter before you can click the link.)

DCSki’s Home Page now shows recent Twitter posts from Mid-Atlantic Ski Areas.

DCSki Resort Profiles include extensive information about mid-Atlantic ski areas, including statistics, a trail map, current snow conditions, webcams, related news, upcoming events, bargains, nearby lodging, and reader comments. Statistics have been expanded to include links to a resort’s presence on the Facebook and Twitter social networking sites, if applicable.

Resort Profiles on DCSki have been expanded to include links to a resort’s presence on Twitter and Facebook, if available.

Within each resort profile, you’ll also find a list of recent Tweets from that resort.

DCSki Resort Profiles include a new section containing recent Tweets from the resort.

DCSki has also added a comprehensive Resort Tweets page, which allows you to view a longer list of Tweets, as well as to view Tweets for a specific resort.

A new Resort Tweets page allows you to view recent Tweets from a specific resort or from all mid-Atlantic ski areas.

If your favorite resort begins using Twitter or Facebook but DCSki doesn’t reflect this, please send DCSki’s Editor a note. Currently DCSki is tracking Twitter updates from Bear Creek, Ski Beech, Blue Knob, Blue Mountain, Camelback, Shawnee Mountain, Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain, Sno Mountain, Snowshoe Mountain, Timberline, Whitetail, Wintergreen, and Winterplace Resorts.

Mother Nature Delivers Early Holiday Gift to Mid-Atlantic Skiers: Some of the Best Pre-January Conditions on Record (December 24, 2009)
Mother Nature delivered an early holiday gift to mid-Atlantic ski areas, dumping up to three feet of fresh snow the weekend before Christmas and keeping temperatures low enough to fire snowguns around the clock. As a result, many ski areas should have close to 100% of their terrain open in the coming days.
