Hi, can anybody please advise on what is the best route to get to Snowshoe from Charlotte, NC? Normally we drive from just outside of DC but are departing from NC this time. We leave for SS tomorrow (Sunday) AM. Google maps shows 3 different possible routes. Which is best? Please note that I get very car sick so if there's a less nauseating way let me know. Thanks in advance!
Route 1:
I-77 N/US-21 N for approx 200 miles
Then I-64 E toward Lewisburg, toll, 50mi
US-219 N for 61 mi
WV-66 E Arrive
Route 2:
I-77 N/US-21 N for 131mi
US-11 N/ I-81 N toward Roanoke for 16mi
Exit 98 for VA-100 N for 22 mi
Go thru lots of small towns it looks like
Eventually 219 N, to WV-63 E, to US-60 E
Then WV-92 N for approx 55 miles
WV-66 W
Arrive
Route 3:
I-77 N/US-21 N for 131mi
US-11 N/ I-81 N toward Roanoke for 69mi
US-220 N for 34 mi
Then 64 E to VA-42 N for 16mi
VA-39 W for 45 mi
WV-92 N for 21 mi
WV-66
Arrive
Take 77 to 81 north
I-81 Exit 150B to route 220 north
220N to I-64W
I-64W to 92 north in White Sulphur springs
92N to route 66 west, through Cass to the Snowshoe access road
This is the best and fastest way to go. 92 is a good road, reasonably straight, and blessed with generous passing lanes to dispatch Sunday drivers.
That's a little different than the map suggests, thank you! We are on the road and will go your suggested route. Appreciate your help!
how about this. on your way back drive accross 64 to 77. i don't live in Charlotte but the people I know drive that way.
