I guess Timberline's Glade Skiing promotion is working. I took a warmup run down Sallie this morning and I passed this guy skiing with his young daughter. Half way down i stopped and when he caught up he stopped next to me and said " Are you Glade skiing?" I didn't know quite what to say, then he said, "when your heel lifts off the skis is that Glade Skiing" to which I replied "no that is Telemark Skiing". He then asked me what Glade Skiing was and I told him it was basically skiing in the woods. He replied, "I don't think I'll try that".
Only at TImberline.
Oh wow. Haha! I can totally see that.
I saw the base at Whitegrass was down to just 4 inches as of this am. I'm guessing that all mid-Atlantic off-piste options will be completely starting over.
Skiing with an air freshner?
We did a bunch of Glade Skiing in the rain yesterday. Off the Wall (or the Drop I always mix them up) was great. When you visiting Vic. Also, they did do a bunch of work in the trees clearing out scrub brush and downfall. The rumor is that JR and Anderson did it this summer so I think it was done right.
Actually not just a rumor - John has spent the entire summer working (and in the 10+ years, never known him to work this hard). JR, on the other hand, was in the best shape this summer (not bad for an "old man").
The result: some really cool trails for DH biking, and heaven for tree skiing.
