Snowshoe Mountain Resort
January 15, 2013
Hello from Connie Lawn and Charles Sneiderman, on Jan 11th. It is damp and foggy, but guests who were on the snow Friday said the conditions were actually good. It is supposed to be warm over the weekend - hope the snow is soft. It is so important to drive here in the daylight. The roads are tricky, and you need to see where you are going. As we crossed the mountain tops at dusk, the fog was extremely thick. Some rain - not much. The drive from Falls Church took us 5 hours, but we stopped 3 times. More update tomorrow.
Bells on the mountain? This is Connie Lawn, at Snowshoe on Saturday. The fog has lifted, the sun is shinning, and the snow is soft. It is a perfect day, as thousands have realized.
I have never seen an area so crowded. Two fast skiers nearly wiped me out at a bottleneck. Two suggestions:
Everyone on the mountain should wear bells, so people can hear them coming!
If you must come on a weekend (always a problem), make certain it is not college break! Be safe, Connie
Incredible sunrise! Bright orange, yellow, and wisps of black clouds or smoke passing through. Warm - time for First Tracks for anyone with the energy to do it.
Delicious food at several of the Snowshoe restaurants. Huge portions - enough to feed an army!
Enjoy your Sunday! Connie and Charles
Greetings from Mont Tremblant. Not busy here at all... ALthough it's been seriously warm for Quebec...
CONNIE and Charles,
I sent you a DCSki private mail asking for more info on the Wounded Warrior ski program. To get to the pm, log in to DCSki, click on "My Stuff" and then "messages".
Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you.

Connie, how was the snow holding up at Snowshoe this weekend? Were there many bare spots? Me (and probably 2000 others) will be there for MLK weekend. Hope there's some base left. And a few new inches on top by Saturday.
2000?
Their marketing is better than that; expect 6500 people, quite a bit of snow, perfect ski weather, no lift lines, gourmet food available from time to time and more...
Disclaimer: all most likely true, except for the lift lines.
Thanks for the questions about Snowshoe. It should be cold enough to make more snow by the weekend. And it will be crowded - stick to Silver Creek as much as you can. As with all areas, check the web cams and web sites before you go. Have fun, Connie
