Open until March 18?
So says the director of marketing and sales in our local paper today.

I have trouble believing they will have much left to ski on by then. I was there Sunday and while most of their trails are open, a good number of them have thin spots.

Perhaps if Whitetail makes some more snow they will have trails worth skiing that late in March, but I won't hold my breath for it.

I predict on Saturday, March 17, Whitetail will have a lot of green "snow."

Maybe Whitetail will borrow a bunch of grass skis from Bryce for the weekend.

To their credit, I did check the website this morning and Whitetail made a couple of inches of snow on a number of trails.

Plus I noticed the night before. They certainly haven't thrown in the towel just yet.

Open could mean the terrain park. Many resorts sponsor park events after the lifts stop cranking.

I just want another chance on March 3rd. If they can do it then I would be happy. I don't need anything but the greens anyway and they have good snow on most of those.
Liberty on the other hand. The last time I checked their webcam and saw an awful lot of brown out there.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Can I assume Whitetail's season is pretty much over at this point? Can anyone who goes there regularly report on current conditions (week of Feb. 27-March 2)?

it's over

Crash and burn

however Hidden Valley rocked yesterday! :-x (- - ... ... - -)

N.B. At the end of my post I mistakenly made a reference to the Morse code 73 for "love and kisses" but did not realize that this actually is "Best Regards". Mia Culpa Maxima I meant Philips Code 88 or - - - .. - - - ..

Crush's 'crash and burn' link sums it up. Will be interesting if tomorrow's weather is the fatal blow. But I'd still expect open thru Sunday.

As of last Sunday, there was a surprising amount of snow on a few trails, mainly Snow Park, Sidewinder, Fanciful (thanks to the new guns?) and Bold Decision. However, the latter required a trek down Drop In which caused one to sing Brown Sugar by the Stones as you carefully traversed it. No terrain parks. Snowmaking on Saturday night helped a bit - although it was sticky.

..all in all just not a good winter for the 'lowland' areas. Nights that permitted snowmaking were often followed with several days of above freezing temps. Had some great years lately. This one balanced those.

I skied Whitetail earlier in the season and I agree, the snow on Fanciful was noticeably better than on all of the other trails. Angle Drop was an icy mess, Fanciful was practically powder.

I looked up those Techno Alpin T40 guns ... in the neighborhood of $40k per gun! shocked

I can't really answer your question, but offer this instead.

I skied Liberty for an hour on my way home from work this evening (it was more convenient for me than Wt tonight). I'd looked at the cams of both during the day, and Wt certainly looked much better. Liberty has some brown, and some depth, but not much width on many runs. The bleak warm/wet forecast sure seems like the end. I certainly had it in my mind as I skied my last run tonight, that it was most likely my last Snow Time run of this season (hopefully I'm wrong).

Hoping for some more Blue Knob, T-line, and a NY trip to get me through to next December....

I sure as hell hope our summer doesn't continue these much above normal temps.

Blue Knob is CFTS. The others can't be far behind.
