Looking For A Good Boot Fitter in the area?
November 2, 2007
Im looking for someone who can help me out with some proper custom footbeds and help me get my new boots adjusted correctly to conform to my legs/knees/ankles. If you have suggestions please email me: gottajiboo@hotmail.com
Thanks
Derek at Pro-Fit in Leesburg
Brian Eardley or others at Ski Center in DC
BTW, we are a pretty social bunch here and like to chat about skiing, so I didn't email you in the hope that you might be social too..
Thanks for the heads up Otto!
As you can probably tell Im new to this group and I have no problem keeping the discussion here rather than on email. Good to know theres others in the area who spend all their time skiing, dreaming about skiing, and planning their next ski trip.
On the off-chance that there are other crazies still checking the forum...
Is Derek still at Pro-Fit? Anyone have experience with the store? I'm planning to buy boots, and I know they've got a sale going now. Since it's just a hop, skip and jump from where I live, I thought I might swing by... I just keep seeing references to Ski Center, but nobody's said much about Pro-Fit.
Thanks,
aaron
Welcome to DC Ski.
I bought new boots a little over a year ago from the Master Fitters at Pro-Fit in Leesburg, VA. They are great and really know their stuff. Your feet can not go wrong here.

But I will throw another plug in for Brian Eardley at the Ski Center. He hooked me up with some sweet footbeds a year and a half ago. I also got my son a new snowboard there for his birthday this year and they were great to deal with. I went in willing to spend $x and basically told them that. They set him up with what he needed for half of that!

Brian is still at Pro-Fit and he does really good footbeds, particularly the Instaprint ones. Boot selection may be at a bit of a low right now, though.
That is a good point. You want to make sure they have a variety of models and sizes so you can try everything on. It might pay off to call them and ask when their stock comes in. You might have to wait till October but it will be worth it if you want to try on a variety of products. Also many of the top boot fitters at ski center are not necessarily in town during the summer.
This is a social group, and I have been socially drinking and sleeping, thus why I am so late to respond. Pro-Fit and Ski Center do have some great guys, but I will also throw a hat in the ring for one of the shops that have gone through some changes... Ski Chalet. Before you roll your eyes, some of the good guys from the old Ski Chalet are still there, and have done some of the best bootfitting in the mid-atlantic. Just like any shop, you have to find someone you are comfortable with. At last check there were still a couple of the really good boot fitters in Arlington. Ryan, who is now a manager in Arlington is great. There is also a guy Jason, who used to be the manager, but now works part time. There was also another guy, I think his name is Liam, who was a true boot specialist. He wasn't there much last year, so call and check in, but any of those 3 are worthy boot fitters and footbed makers in the Arlington, VA area.
Wanted to say my wife and I got boots fit by Peter at Ski Center and they went through a fantastic first season. Even though its a hike to get into the city the trip there is always worth it.
