It will be many years in the making, but the story below is the first I've seen of detailed plans to develop a slopeside village at Snowbasin, something like 2400 residential units.
Most of the planned housing would be clustered in what is being called Earl's Village near the existing base lodge that would include hotels, condominiums and townhouses, a retail and restaurant core, ice skating, spas and an amphitheater. Three golf courses, a wastewater treatment plant and a fire station would also be built on the property.
Never been to Snowbasin, but long curious because of big lifts/terrain and low crowds. Time may be growing short to beat the hoards??

I've never been there either and perhaps never will because Powder Mountain is nearby with it's 2700 acres of powder preserve and free shuttle buses from the road back to the ski area.

Bet they have a waiting list for those firefighter jobs.

Denis, Snowbasin is deer valley (like they'd let WestVirginiaJimmy ski there) without the snobberry or the crowds. I didn't care Snowbasin the first couple of times i went but the more we poke around there the more it's growing on me. Great place to beat the crowds, they don't have a bus though. Jim the article said the buildout would be over 50 years?

Denis,

Since you don't care for lifts, Snowbasin is the place for you. They have 3 lifts/gondolas that rise 2,500'. 10 runs = 25,000' of vertical. Lots of good skiing all over the Mtn. The best part is there are no crowds. It also has one of the nicest lodges I've ever been. I felt like I needed to take my boots off at the front door.

Funny, that pictorial that they have looks identical to Mammoth's new town center

Ogden/Eden valley is a nice empty-ish place a little back in time where you can still talk to 20 yr old girls that already have three kids under their belt, and look forward to more. Who needs this to ruin that scene? I can hang out with 20,000 (approx 4 people x 2400 residential units) of my "friends" here... Just me then probably, but I hope there is some resistance if not outright defeat of said plans.
