I had some base welds that I needed after some pretty sketchy stuff at Solitude last spring. Got the tune done, as well, which will probably be the last time anyone other than me works on the skis until next season. I figure it's good to start with a "professional" edge, right?

Weather's looking good, and I heard from one of the guys at Ski Center that that Liberty and Whitetail are planning to open this weekend (even though I don't see that on their webpages). Sadly, I'll be tied up with other stuff, but if the weather models are right, next week may justify a day "working from home" to get an early-season day...

From what I've seen/heard, I'd say "hopeful" is the better word than "planning" right now. Likely, but no snow making until Thursday night it seems..if a productive Friday, then a couple select trails on Saturday. But they'll be going non-stop and Sunday may be a much better day!

Liberty blew quite a bit of snow before this rain/warm spell. The rain down here (DC area) has been mixed snow/sleet up there. Not bad for base building.

I've heard the plan is to blow snow whenever possible - maybe as early as tonight. Keep in mind that with Liberty's new snowmaking equipment, they only need about two nights of real cold to get a trail in openable condition. They're very close to that already with the Beginner Area, Dipsy, Heavenly and Lower Ultra.

Shifts have been told to be prepared to work this weekend. Definitely by weekend after this one . . .
