There was plenty of snow at Winterplace last weekend. Had a great time skiing in the warm weather with the girls this weekend. In between ski sessions on Sat, we squeezed in hiking and horseback riding at Pipestem State Park. We were staying in a nice 2BR cottage there, only $100/night.

We skied Sat morning and evening, and Sun morning. Everything softened up well before 10am, even with the time change. Some lines were building when we left Sat around 11:30. It was starting to get too soft and very slow by then. No crowds when we got back at 5pm. After it cooled down to the low 60's, the snow was perfect for Woods Run under the lights and moonlight. We were also on Drop Off, which is nominally a black. The bonus was that Marz Jr's friend's non-skiing mother could see most of Drop Off from the Mountain House deck.

Very few people around Sun morning even though some Boy Scout troops and their families were around. A little icy at 8:30 (7:30 EST), but fine by 9:30 since it warmed up so fast. It was 73 degrees when we left at 1pm.

I may well be back at Wplace on Sat. They are predicting 1-3 inches of snow for Thu night!

No one around before 9:00am

The way over from the main lodge. Tubing was pretty slow during the day.

Bumps on Turkey Chute. Was closed on Sun morning, all ice I guess.

Headed towards Snow Bowl

Top of Plunge. Woods Run if go right.

Drop Off, an easy black since so wide

Happy girls

They liked Drop Off, which was pretty much blue not black with the sun and heat. Loved Woods Run under the lights. By then things cooled down enough to make it just the right speed, fast enough to take without many turns even for Marz Jr.'s friend. Liked Snow Bowl too.

It's a bonus that all the lifts we were riding are triples, so the girls and I can ride together. The only tricky part is that the seats are a little higher than other places, so they have to jump up a bit at just the right time. Last year that was tough for Marz Jr but now she's grown enough to not have any real problem after the first couple times.

The End
