Any thoughts from the forum about what Timberline will be able to come up with for this weekend? I'd be EXTREMELY happy with WL. The web site says more trails opening soon, but what? and when?

I just talked to my nephew who along with his fiancee and a friend is borrowing my condo and he told me that they opened White Lightning late today and tell him that Sally would open 'soon'

Actually 4 days of snowmaking now...they blew sat now that I remember a friend of mine that works there saying that it was weird to see the snow from the guns drifting down lower Salamander towards the lodge when usually the wind blows it the other way..

uhmmm...I'm riding at Timberline today, and White Lightening is definitely not opened yet. They were pushing the snow out flat on it, but it appears they are just getting ready to blow more snow on White Lightening. It might open for this weekend.

Yeah, that correlates with what the snow report said. Ugh. Hopefully, it will open Tomorrow before this warm-up occurs. Timberline usually does not groom out a slope unless they intend to open it SOON. They might be allowing the snow to set over night, which is probably not a bad idea.

I called and confirmed that they opened WL and hopefully more terrain will open soon. WL is quite wide now and can easily accommodate the traffic produced by the two slow chairs.

PS: Have you people heard of the slow food movement? Well, I'm starting a slow chair movement. ;\)

Sorry...I have no verifiable intel if that is what you are looking for...but I can speculate...I would bet a triangle/mid-station(trail down the middle..face???) opening with the possibility of that trail down the middle from the top...I can tell you this though I can see huge whales on that trail down the middle from our neck of the woods...it was around 50 degrees most of the day in the valley today...

My Goshy washy Tucker..You must be too used to the arctic blasts up there in TUCKER Co!...50 degrees in the Valley all day HUH? at 3700' SOUTH of the valley it hit 35 for a high....the Valley being 3300' ment that it might of hit the upper 30's......the Ski areas could have made snow till at least 1030am...I cked out the dolly sods cam at 9 am & there were only 2 to 3 guns blowing at the top of TL with a blizzard at the base....Whats up with all this attention to the base??? I can go up there in july & see snow still left over at the base...Who needs it then?..Canaan ski area "The Mother of Lameness" didn't have anything going as far as the webcam could tell....Money & CHANGE..We need it BAD....Stay tuned!

I had 52 degrees on my thermometer at noon today and there has been a heavy inversion all day...you could see all the smoke from the fireplaces hugging the valley floor...right now I'm reading 32 degrees outside...

Nasty inversion. It was like 35ish in Winchester, VA where I was at today. What's up with all the inversions lately? I thought that was supposed to be a rarity?

Yehh you can read a Thermometer Tucker...don't be silly...the gadget was reading wrong thats all..+ the fact that you live up there & experience all the cold with the wind chills that come with it by the time the sun comes out & the wind lays down & the temps get up to the mid to upper 30's it feels like 50!...Like here in FL where I'm "warmin"..Its only 77 but feels like the mid 80's to me! SOOooo ..You ain't slow & you ride fast...good man!

I have no idea what the temperature is now, and I'm not sure if I know how to read a thermometer correctly either(it must have something to do with being a knuckledragger)...maybe we should have a DCSki get together where we can all practice our mad skillz at reading the temp...but I sure wish it was about 15 degrees in the valley right now

I know - wasn't it awful today? 50 degrees and rain. Well the wind is blowing hard now - maybe that cold front finally got through and we're ready for winter weather for a spell

luckily i got to ski tline saturday, even tho all they had open from the top was white lightning, but it was nice corny goodness until about 2pm when it was past its prime and real soft. the other trails from the top has a nice icy crust on em tho, so from a coverage standpoint, i would think that would serve as a good base for them get more stuff open faster. not crowded at all tho, and about 1/2 the skiers were season passers. met a number of people from va, md, and even nc that had recently bought homes in the area.
