That's insane and just not right, but way to go you lucky dog. It was 90 today in DC and same yesterday and tomorrow. I'm planning to take my kids swimming in a lake tomorrow for Columbus Day.

Thanks for making my day a little worse....organic chemistry, 90 degrees everyday, and I can't remember the last time it rained, meaning trout everywhere are losing their homes!!

Is it ski season yet?

But really, I appreciate the pics and I am glad you can make it out!!!

We were skiing at Alta and skinned up from the Collins lift towards the top of Wildcat. It was about 20" of new snow on a very thin base.

I came to Utah with no other purpose than to post at least 2 such TRs a week. \:\)

ENVY. Absolute ENVY. I spent my day sweating in a room watching the Steeler game (21-0 over Seattle!) and doing homework for my nursing classes. Me and my girlfriend would have loved today if we did what you did.

Tim,

Thanks for the pictures. I'll be thinking of all that snow as I lay on the beach drinking a cold one.

Send some more pictures and I'll catch a wave for you.

Got to love this Global Warming!

That is just sick!

And I just got back from Atlanta yesterday, sweating my @$$ off. Kick-butt heavy metal concert I was at, though. 14 totally awesome bands. And just today, went swimming down at the Rappahannock River (as there are no pools opened). But still, how sweet it must've been to making some turns in that!

I am glad my post was able to cool down some hot DC area offices.

I really don't think I should get banned for pow whoring. All the pow turned into slurpee by noon anyway. I figure use it or loose it.

I want you all to know that I am taking up Crush's post as DCski's secret agent here in Utah. So look me up when you are out here and we can make some turns.

Denis,
Thanks. The feeling is mutual. Those were my first October turns ever. Inspired by this: I skied Yesterday!

Early Sun might be NE's turn for oct turns.Tuckermans or Wildcat in NH Or Sugarloaf in Maine(need elevation) could be a good bet... it'll be interesting!

I've been watching that too. Good chance for the higher elevations of NNE, probably little or none for the local Alpps. Actually Tucks is far too rocky to ski on a little bit of early snow. The favored first turns spots up north are the Mt. Wash. Auto rd. and the Whiteface Memorial Highway. Both are extremely steep for cars - green/blue for skis and a long tough access hike. The Gondola side of Mansfield is a possibility also with easy access. All 3 of these venues have the advantage of a smooth base below those few inches of snow.

I'll be in LA on business next week. It should end by midday on Fri. and I have scheduled my return on Sun. allowing a recreational opportunity on Fri. PM and Sat. There is some chance of turns at Mammoth; last week some earned turns were made at Mammoth and reported on telemarktips.com. However I had a different plan in mind, drive up to King's Canyon/Sequoia National Parks and scout it out. Last year there was a trip report and pictures of some delicious looking earn your turns skiing there, also on ttips.com

I did my first real powder skiing last year out at Whistler and this picture fills me with intense jealousy and anger all at once.

It was what, 90 degrees here on Sunday?
