Skiing yesterday at Canaan Valley was one of my most favorite and memorable days in a long time. The company was good and the snow was even better. A few friends and I got up there at about 8:45 and were dressed and on the slopes by 9:15.

Our first run we took was down Timber Trail. This trail brought back many memories for me because it is the trail that I first learned to ski. My friends went down around the first big turn but I took a left at the turn (onto Timber Spur??) and found myself in soft boot-deep powder. I knew then that it was going to be a good day.

Our second run me made was down Gravity. I knew that it wouldn't be groomed and figured it would still be loaded with powder so I was really looking for to hitting it. Not to far down the run I decided that it would be my last time down because it was badly windblown and made for an ice to powder experience which wasn't too fun.

We then made a run under the main lift from the top and it was great. Lots of untouched powder made for a nice soft ride down. We ended up making that same run at least 5 times.

Meadow 2 was also an awesome run. We found some semi-carved up powder to the skier's right of the slope where the tall pine trees had blocked the sun most of the day. They powder there stay "fresh" the entire day, all the way until 4:30.
The favorite run of the day was the Glades. It is a skinny blue that is open only to natural snow. It isn't a challenging run at all but being in the woods on soft powder makes a run spectacular for me.

As I said before, yesterday was an awesome day of skiing and just spending time with friends outdoors and in the mountains. It was the 10th day of skiing for me this year and by far the best (and I skied 3 days in VT). Being a busy college student I often get caught up in study, writing lab reports, and spending time at school. Any time that I can get out and spend a day skiing with friends is great. Today just happened to be a little bit better than most.

**Edit: I can never seem to get pics to load right. Anyone know why? They are hosted on Webshots...

I used the built in image UBB code maker on the post area here. My images aren't available for viewing yet on Webshots when I trying running a search for my name. Maybe later when they become available they will work correctly.

I think it's an issue with the way webshots hosts images. Those URL's don't go to an image file; they go to a dynamically-generated page that includes the image (among other things), but the image itself is displayed using Flash.

If you link directly to a JPEG, GIF, or PNG image, it should show up in-line.

On the webshots page for one of your photos, I see a section on the right titled "direct link to image" which has a URL that points directly to a JPEG, e.g.:

Code:
 http://thumb15.webshots.net/t/57/757/4/48/82/2477448820087093235oUQMbz_th.jpg

They also have links to change the size of the picture you're linking to. If you choose a size, it will generate a URL you can use. Here's a test:

Hope that makes sense and helps. Just look on the right for the "link to this picture" section.

I noticed that when I was linking pictures, that if any of the pictures in a post was messed up then none of the rest of the correctly done pictures would work either. HTH. -Tim

Nice...!

I still need to get up that way as I've never been to Canaan or Timberline. Still thinking of trying to hit Timberline for the "Snowy Luau" day. We'll see....
