I have yet to pay a visit to Roundtop. There is a SCWDC gathering there on Sunday and for $61 we get an all day ticket, lunch and a 2 hour lesson. I'm thinking of going with my wife who could use the lessons but for an advanced rider is the place worth the trip or is it a little on the banal side? Also, how long does it take to get there from say Fairfax.

RT is like 1H 45Min from I-495 and I-95 interchange in Greenbelt,MD. That is ignoring any Baltimore Traffic that might mess you up.

Roundtop has a one decent double black trail (gunbarrel) and another pretty neat curvy black called Barrett's trail. They also have a super pipe (or they used to). Other than that its pretty bland.

Never been to RT, but props for using the word "banal" on a ski forum!!!!

From Fairfax it's just a little shorter to go through Frederick up US-15. It's maybe 30-40 minutes past Liberty. It's no Whitetail (Ok - I'm biased) but it's worth the trip to check it out.
