According to the Snowshoe website opening day is now the 23rd (they had been advertising the 22nd). They will open with 3 lifts and 6 trails:

"When we open on Thanksgiving, it looks like we'll open with Skidder, Grabhammer and Powder Monkey lifts along the the following trails: Skidder, Crosscut, Spruce Glades, Powder Monkey, Heisler Way and Whistlepunk. "

Clay,
Not sure where you saw a Wed openning date. for some time the Shoe has been emailing and on-site news that the 23 was the date.
Happy thanksgiving!

Snowshoe had announced a tentative opening date of Nov. 22 as late as November 13, but changed the date to Thanksgiving shortly thereafter. Sno Country Mountain Reports was still showing Nov. 22 until yesterday -- it looks like that got updated this morning. I've gotten in the habit of not listing tentative openings dates in the DCSki Event Schedule, even when resorts predict/publish them, because they tend to float around a bit. Such is the nature of Mid-Atlantic weather.

Colonel,
You're right, it was second hand information - I stopped getting the emails since I only get down there once a year, and it makes me jealous.

My information came from a fellow I work with who is an avid skier and a home owner at the Shoe. He's been running a countdown at his desk for the past 3 weeks and today there was a hickup of one day (kind of like a skier's leap year I guess). I asked him what was up and he told me that the date had been pushed by a day. I assumed he knew what he was talking about.

Sorry if I confused anybody.
