Timberline blowing snow?
November 21, 2006
here is a closeup:
I was there yesterday and drove up to the bases at both TL and CV. There was no sign that they had blown any snow and no natural down at the base. I had driven out on Sat. evening with skis in the car based upon a picture from the webcam at 5:00 PM on Sat. It looked considerably more white than this one. Apparently it all melted down overnight, and was probably less than an inch to begin with. I went to Whitegrass and did trail work with Chip and a dozen or so like minded folks. We did most of our work up high and some snow persisted up there. It began to snow lightly at about noon on Sun. and what you are looking at in this picture probably fell Sun. night. Possibly the guns ran last night but 24 hrs. ago I saw no evidence that they had run at all to that point. I brought my camera and must send the pics to Chip who will probably put them up on his site.
I agree. You can see in the pictures that I took on Sunday
(here) that there was only mud on Sunday at around 2:15.
But it did look like all of the snow sticks were out of the parking lot
Clay
I saw this shot earlier also, but when I looked a TLINE webcam it showed some dust on the ground but no snow making in progress. I was a little suprised since it seemed like it was below 30 all day there, but I'm guessing they are either expecting warm weather or rain in next couple days so they are saving their $$
Timberline *is* making snow, and I hope to post photos soon proving it (courtesy of Laura Reed at Canaan Realty).
Well, I (happily) stand corrected
. I wish they would have done it yesterday when I was there....

yes i was speaking of the cloud of white down at the base of the small photo, not up higher on the runs. looks like snowmaking to me.
Where is that Timberline webcam when we need it?
looks even better today:
