Skiing off into the sunset ......Gotta love it.

I skied a few years back with a father and son, early 80's and 60's, respectively, at Vail. The father's winter home was Vail. What is it they say? The family that plays together stays together.

I guess there is something to look forward to when you get old.

Last winter while at Alta, my Wife and I hiked up to Devils Castle and were met at the top of the climb by two men in the 60's or 70's. I was sucking wind pretty good, looking like a flat lander, and they were standing there with their smiling with their Hawaiian shirts on. They made it look so easy. I told them that I hoped to grow up to be just like them. They of course just smiled and laughed.

BTW - Did you hear the Hellgate Condo's burned down?

Alta has more of these types than anywhere else that I have skied. Last year I saw the same group booting up in the Goldminer's Daughter every day. They were all good friends and some looked well into their 80s. Some limped in but when I saw them on the slopes they skied flawlessly. One might expect that they would choose a mellower mountain, but no, they were at Alta and skiing everything. More power to them.

My dad, who just turned 60, read this article and wants to try skiing now. I really hope he does! That way, I can bring him out to CO and show him the real beauty of the Back Bowls and Blue Sky.... It's not the same when you can only walk around the village and window shop.

Last year when out of the group in our shuttle van from Park City the oldest guys (in their 60s) skied the most difficult terrain out of all of us.

.. what a bunch of dumb-a$$ old farts .... hell I'll be skiing with them soon .... !!!!!
