You guys always seem to give good advice for traveling around the DC area so I'm hoping you could offer up some advice for me.

What do you feel is the best way to get around DC at 5 and/or 7 pm on a Friday. Would be traveling north from Richmond to Frederick and like I said, would reach the DC area around 5 or 7. Thanks in advance for your help.

Personally, I would run up 95 to Fredricksburg and pick up 17N. Take that up to 15N about 8 miles North of Warrenton, then stay on 15 through Leesburg into Fredrick.

While 15 is a two lane road most of the way, traffic moves and you don't have to hassle the mixing bowl and all the rush hour crap around the beltway.

Cheers,

Bill

I would say reschedule your trip. Seriously.

Don't hit the Beltway until 7:30. Or get there before 3:00. Anything in between is hell.

That is good advice.

I commuted from Columbia to Alexandria for 4 years. In the AM if I left between 7 or 8 I would get to work at the same time - at about 9:15.

Similar for the afternoon.
