Made it to 7S 12/6 (sat) with my son and his friend. Probably did about 5 hours of skiing in total, which is a lot considering only about 7 slopes/trails available. That is typical for something as early as dec 6. Conditions were very nice on what was open, very busy for opening day there. Staff needs to focus on crowd control and directing. With the exception of the detachable 6, other lift lines were unmanaged and chaotic.
Wagner slope, always the first out of the gate at 7S, had some mild bumpage at the end of the day. Temps were mild compared to days before, so not the typical 7S freeze-up at the end....
I'll hit up HV next weekend. Usually a more controlled vibe there as I've noticed over the years, so something to look forward to.
Hope some of you on this forum had a chance to get out early, have a good time, and get those legs back....
That all sounds good. Glad to hear everyone is getting those runs in early. I'm starting to count the visits now, y'know? Wherever it is. I'm sure there's some folks here who go to Roundtop. Any good? Trying to get out and beyond w.pa this year!
T-Line Sunday 7th, 70% of the mountain open! Great coverage and snow for most part with just a little scratch in the afternoon on some runs
T-line is really bringing it and crushing the rest in Ops, but expected more people - I see a need for marketing campaign (although I'm not complaining, I got my 30 laps in!)

T-Line was nice today, 15 runs in less than 3 hours. EMPTY. All the runs open were fine, but Upper Thunderstruck had some death cookies. They were making snow on the runs that were not open yet.
You guys have more terrain and vert than I do out here in UT. I skied Solitude on Dec 5 and 7. It's got 650' vert right now on a WROD.

Update, just learned the tram will be running for the first time this season tomorrow Dec 9 at Snowbird for 3000' vertical on a WROD. Might have to check that out, but it could be survival skiing if a crowd shows up :-)
Skiing Wolf Creek Ski Area this week with my usual crew from NC, TN, OH, NM. As has happened the last four years, WCSA is 100% open. Fair to say the drive out from Raleigh to South Fork was pretty easy Dec. 3-6. I left just in time to avoid icy roads in the NC/TN mountains.
We found plenty of untracked powder today. There was enough snow in the last few weeks to cover up underbrush. Some areas don't even have treetops showing. Hopefully won't get too warm in the trees so that the cold snow will last a few more days.
Wolf Creek blue bump run called Thumper, Dec. 8, 2025

We got in about a dozen runs at Timberline on Friday, got to try out the new 4FRNT MSP 99s.
Fabulous skis right ?
They are definitely an adjustment from my older skis which are 88 under foot. I am interested in seeing how they are working a toboggan.

9 Dec 2025. Caught 1st 9am tram of season at Snowbird, UT today (it ran for a few hours yesterday afternoon).
Sunny peak in background is Pfeifferhorn (Little Matterhorn):

Heading to Gad Valley from close to the summit:

Only way down from summit was Regulator Johnson to Big Emma, mostly on manmade snow. Up top was very firm in places, but years of skiing Mid-Atlantic fully prepared me for it :-)
