I know whitetail and liberty made some snow last week but now it is all mud. Im hoping to get to ski by around december 18th but still trying to find somewhere not to far away that might be open.

Check out the the DCSki discussion site at the top of the list. There are several threads about the upcoming weather and the cold spell that is supposed to get to the mid-Atlantic mountains late this weekend and all of next week. By the time you go skiing things should be looking really good.

An update: ski whitetail replied to an e-mail i sent them and informed me that they are shooting for dec 18th as a tentative opening date

According to official sources, that's the same target for Liberty Mountain - Dec. 18.

Just to throw my two cents in.

Massanutten has a tentive opening day on the weekend of 18th as well. I honostly don't expect much beyond the beginners slope though. Probablyy will have Geronimo (Lift 3 - the beginners slope) and maybe mid-station Rebel Yell.
