Here are a couple of winter weather previews I've been going through this evening.

Brace for a wild winter in Washington, but it’s no thrill for snow lovers - The Post
This is paywalled, though I like to say I have a Capital Weather subscription that also includes a newspaper...

Winter Outlook 2021-2022 - WeatherWorld PSU

Since the Keystone State is home to many ski areas; I took Dr. Nese's class my sophomore year at Penn State.

Grand Targhee officially announced they are delaying open yesterday and Jackson Hole is expected to follow suit tomorrow. Hopefully its not an omen for how the season itself will be.

Weather does what it wants, I can see out to 32 days but those models dance daily.

Locally to PA/MD Line:

I go by the 30 year average of opening day. That range early is Thanksgiving and late is the first week of January.

Sweet Spot is Mid December for an average.   Closing dates early to late March.

For the early base, I look for 50 to 75 hours of snowmaking with 3 good days and nights of snowmaking is all it takes to get open.

I have a NOAA Winter Weather Certification. (30% Guess :o)
