Ski Chalet, a popular ski, snowboard, and performance skate shop based out of Arlington, Virginia, has been busy planning special events for the upcoming winter season including ski swaps and demo days. Ski Chalet has five store locations in Virginia and Maryland.

On Friday, August 20, Ski Chalet will kick off its August Sale (also known as the “Dilly in Chantilly”) at its 17,000 square foot warehouse in Chantilly, Virginia. Inventory from its five stores will be combined under one roof, with savings of 20-80% off ski, snowboard, and skate equipment, as well as clothing, accessories, service specials, and more. Representatives from equipment manufacturers will be on hand, as well as local ski areas. The event will run from noon to midnight on Friday, August 20; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday the 21st; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 23.

Ski Chalet also sponsors several ski swaps, where skiers and snowboarders can bring their old equipment and trade it with others. Proceeds of the ski swaps benefit local, non-profit ski patrols. The weekend of October 9-10, the Timberline Ski Patrol will run a ski swap at Ski Chalet’s Tysons Corner location. Whitetail’s Ski Patrol will run a swap from October 16-17 at the Arlington location of Ski Chalet, while the Bryce Ski Patrol will run a swap at the Richmond location on Saturday, October 16. The Canaan Valley Ski Patrol will run a swap the weekend of November 13-14 at Ski Chalet’s Chantilly location. The Wisp Ski Patrol also plans to run a swap at the Shady Grove location, but the date has not been determined.

Between October and December, 1999, Ski Chalet will offer a “Deduct-A-Ski” program, allowing skiers and boarders to bring in their old equipment, clothing, and accessories for appraisal. Ski Chalet will donate the equipment to the Special Olympics, and provide paperwork so you can receive a deduction on your 1999 taxes.

Finally, Ski Chalet has announced its extremely popular “Demo Days” on Thursday, January 6, 2000 (location to be determined), and Thursday, January 13, 2000 (Wisp Resort). For $2, skiers and boarders will receive a lift ticket, unlimited ski and snowboard demos, and a party on the slopes. The $2 lift ticket vouchers will go on sale starting November 1, 1999.
