Firsthand Account: Ski Liberty (Saturday)
By a DCSki Reader

Liberty was able to make a little snow on Friday night. This did not result in any new terrain being open, but did help to maintain what is open. Trails open were the First Class Skier Area, NOVA, Sneaky Pete, and the Snowboard Park. From the top, Dipsy Doodle, Heavenly, and Lower Ultra were all open. There was no need for rock skis today and conditions varied with the temperature. Almost all the trails had a loose frozen granular overlay on top of ice/packed powder. As skier traffic pushed the granular around, it collected in piles on Sneaky Pete, and trails on the backside. Random bumps appeared on Heavenly and Lower Ultra.

Lift Lines were short all day and nonexistent on the backside. Nature lovers enjoyed a small herd of deer grazing on Lower Strata from the backside quad.

Given the lack of anything even remotely resembling winter that has been the rule this season, Liberty is in pretty good shape.
