The Ski Club of Washington DC (SCWDC) has been around for 75 years, and some members have the clothes and the gear to prove it. All was on display Saturday night, November 12, 2011, at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia. The Club held their annual fashion show and buffet.
Some of the gear was from the “old days.” (I remember using some of it when I started skiing in the 60’s - wonderful stuff!) But most of the items on display were high fashion ski and tennis ware from Willi’s, Village Skis and Bike Shop, Tennis Factory, and Ski Chalet. The models were Club members. Two seven year old twins and their infant brother stole the show!
This 75th Anniversary party was especially festive, with great food, dancing, and music by Ed Kegley.
The Club even passed out beautiful, hard bound books, detailing the 50th Anniversary of the Club, from 1936 until 1986. Lots of skill and hard work went into it.

The SCWDC always has room for new members. It is still organizing trips for this season, but many fill up fast. This season’s trips include 15 Western and European trips, and nine Eastern and Canadian trips. Check out their web site at www.scwdc.org for all the details.
We all know times are hard now. But somehow things feel better when you strap on skis or boards, and make it to the top of a pristine, snow covered mountain!
When she wasn't skiing, Connie Lawn covered the White House as a reporter since 1968.
