Since JimK is off enjoying the big mountains of Colorado, guess someone else has to start the 2015 DCSki Gathering thread for Blue Knob.  Due to the dates for the EpicSki Gathering at JH, getting together at BK is set a bit earlier.  Hope to see the regulars there at some point Feb. 6-8, joining the new folks who are staying in a slopeslide "Family House" with a bunch of tween/teens (boys and girls).  Day trippers and last minute DIY participants are most welcome to join us for a fun time.

The Mid-Atlantic Gatherings typically about 2-3 dozen participants including a friendly mix of day trippers and overnighters of varied abilities. It’s likely some/all of the group will be skiing for parts of Fri, Sat and Sun, with the biggest attendance on Saturday. The age spread of past participants ranged from kids to 70+, originating from NC, SC, OH, VA, MD, WV, PA, DC, and beyond.  This time NJ and DE will be represented as well.  As the date approaches check this thread for more detailed info about conditions and meet up times/places.

For those who haven't been to BK, check out these old threads.

Hope conditions cooperate and we see you there.  Most of the tweens will be skiing Friday, as well as Saturday, and Sunday morning.  A few of the kids will be sticking to greens, but most can do blues and even blacks.

According to the web report, it was open yesterday.

According to the piece of paper hanging at the ticket windows, it was open yesterday.

According to the orange rope across it, it was closed yesterday.

According to the tracks on it, it was pure Blue Knob.

I will have four pairs of skis in the box, two are race skis so if it is ice, then so be it.  Really though, if it's looking really nasty Sunday we will just leave earlier.  Got AWD Subie and a pair of chains (never needed to use them with this car YET) but would still rather get south of the dupage before it piles up too much since we can't stay Sunday night.

We will have a Texas Longhonrs flag out front of our house under the Rt 66 lift near the mid station.  It looks similar to this one.

Also meet ups around 9, 10:30,and 2 proposed at the summit but no promises.  Look for red ribbons on the slopes and look for this in front of our Rt 66 lift mid station ski house.

Looks like I'll be daytripping up on Saturday. Will arrive 10:30-11. Red stop sign jacket. Limited set of skis at home (rest at T-Line), but I'll make do.

You definitely need to make it up to BK when the conditions are good, as they are now. You'll love it.

John, is that you on the far left of that line up looking over the edge of Corbets?  Think I recognize your jacket and pants.  I've looked at that but not done it.  My days of bragging rights runs are over, and in truth I'd have never done that one anyway.

Photoshop by someone from Epic Ski. It's us above Stembogen Bowl in Blue Knob. I'll guess we'll recreate it sometime today.

Nice coverage, even natural but most natrual runs were closed today. They opened lower 66 late today. Ex was open all day. Skyline glade was skiable but all the others stayed roped. Kind a crusty but could reopen soon. We had a nice day by PA standars, temps around 40 sunshine and clouds. Largest crowd I've seen at the Knob in a while but lines weren't too bad except when the 66 double went down for about an hour.

Tomorrow partly cloudy and threat of passing shower in the afternoon.
