Snowshoe Kicks Off Summer Season

Over Memorial Day Weekend, West Virginia’s Snowshoe Mountain Resort kicked off its summer season with a Freeride Festival. Mountain biking continues to grow in popularity at Snowshoe, and the resort has responded by adding a new dirt jump and slopestyle course on the Skidder slope. The course also includes wall rides and quarter pipes.

“This relatively new form of mountain biking labeled Freeriding has received more growth in recent years than any other area of cycling,” explained Trevyn Newpher, Snowshoe’s Mountain Bike Manager. “Resorts all over the country, as well as here at Snowshow, have been expanding their trail and lift systems to better adopt this Freeride movement,” he added.

Mountain biking is one of many activities offered at Snowshoe during the summer. The resort has packed its calendar with events including bike races, Independence Day fireworks, a timbersports challenge, chili cookoff, motorcycle rally, bowhunter championships, symphony festival, and much more.
