Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain is a relatively small ski area located in Pennsylvania, right by the Delaware River and just across the border from New York state. Ski Big Bear caters to families and is a great resort for first-time skiers and boarders. Lift tickets are relatively inexpensive at Big Bear. There are also four cross-country ski trails located in the Masthope Mountain Community near Big Bear. On average, Ski Big Bear gets about 50 inches of natural snow per year, supplementing that with snowmaking.
Ski Big Bear has a terrain park for snowboarders and also has a snow tubing area.

August 29, 2026 - Buying a ski pass used to mean choosing a home mountain. And that was pretty much it. Today, Mid-Atlantic skiers must sort through national products, regional passes, reciprocal agreements, limited-day packages, blackout dates, and prices that change several times before winter. It can be overwhelming! DCSki tries to break through the confusion by examining the leading options for 2026-2027 and the skiers each one serves best.
August 29, 2026 - Skiing has become expensive, but bargains have not disappeared. DCSki looks across the Mid-Atlantic for the season passes, night tickets, family programs, lodging packages, and other offers that can still put skiers on the snow without draining the winter budget.
February 26, 2026 - Indy Pass has added 16 new partner resorts for the 2026/27 season and lowered the price of its no-blackout Indy+ Pass to $399. Renewals for existing passholders opened February 25, with passes historically selling out quickly before moving to waitlist and public sales.

August 28, 2025 - Positioned as an alternative to the mega passes, the Indy Pass — good at small and mid-sized independent resorts — is now back on sale, but only for a limited time. The Indy Pass now provides two lift tickets each at 271 resorts across 4 continents, including numerous areas in the Mid-Atlantic region.
December 16, 2024 - The majority of ski resorts in the Mid-Atlantic region are now open for the 2024-2025 winter season, with a variety of trails available for early-season skiing and snowboarding. October 28, 2024 - The Indy Pass is back on sale with over 230 independent ski resorts across three continents, adding 30 new locations, including Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania. Offering skiers an alternative to larger corporate passes, the Indy Pass emphasizes smaller, local destinations and is expected to sell out quickly for the 2024-2025 winter season.
December 1, 2021 - The Mid-Atlantic ski season is already underway, and additional ski areas are scheduled to come on-line the weekend of December 4-5. December 14, 2017 - The past week saw the arrival of cold temperatures, and the dip in Mercury allowed ski areas to fire up their snowguns. Although lifts have already started running at several resorts, by the end of the December 16-17 weekend nearly every ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic will have kicked off its 2017-2018 winter season. November 5, 2017 - For the fourteenth year, the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association (PSAA) is offering a Snowpass program that allows fourth and fifth graders to his the slopes free, up to three times each at each participating Pennsylvania resort, with some limitations.
