Has anyone ever heard of a private or planned ski area in Beech Mountain Lakes near Freeland/ Hazleton PA?

On google earth pro, there is a satellite image from 1992 that shows a rope tow line with two still maintained trails at the bottom. There was a rope tow or lift it seemed that reached to the top of the mountain. The image from 1992 also showed two curvy trails running from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain. Note that this ski area has no records, so it may have been a planned ski area or a private ski area because it is in a private development.

Green = trails

Blue = lifts/ ropetows

These are the images of the ski area. They show the trails, ropetow and liftlines, and the landworks at the top and mid section to make a level surface for the lift and ropetow.

I actually know someone who lives in a community called Eagle Rock, in Hazelton, PA, that has ski slopes.

Don’t know if that is what you are asking about?

There are two abandoned ski areas in Hazelton with one still operating. The one you might be thinking of was a ski area farther south of Hazelton that I forget the name of (not eagle rock). This area however is farther north and if you want the coordinates here they are.

According to the History of Beech Mountain Lake, It looks like the ski area was built sometime after 1987 and closed some time before 1997. For a time period, resort communities looked at a ski slope/ski area as a must have to attract people. Eventually, Most all of them closed their ski areas due to cost, lack of snowmaking, and seeing local ski areas as a draw, instead of a competition.

 Are you referring to Ski Cove Village as the one further south?

The Flickr link shows another reason the ski area didn't do too well unless I'm reading it wrong. It seems to me that the chairlift, which I assume is the narrow cut second from the right, served only one trail unless there were narrow connectors that cannot be seen in that photo.

Google earth's time machine shows a connection across all the slopes going back to at least 1992 for ski cove village. It also looks like there were still lift structures at the top and bottom back in 1992, but gone by 2005
