I am a average skier and can ski most slopes in the region, but I do avoid the bumps. I have a desire to become a more fluid skier and just feel more comfortable. Any recommendations on a local instructor? When I say local, I am talking within 5 hours of DC.

There are good instructors all over the Mid-Atlantic. I see you are planning a trip to Tucker County WV, check out the Snowsports School at Timberline. You will not be disappointed.

Lessons for you or the whole family?

Lessons are just for myself.  All the years of night skiing have caused me to be a master of skidded turns :)

Haha I hate night skiing. I am too old to see much at night, skiing the worst snow of the day by feel is an adventure.

Maybe I will take a lesson when I at Timberline or Canaan Valley. Anyone have a recommendation on an instructor?

Thanks Scott. You can ask for me Friday, Saturday and Sundays at Timberline if you want a private; if not sign up for an upper level group lesson and you'll probably be the only student in the group ;).

Saturday AM/PM is usually the busiest time.  We got quite a few good instructors for level 5,6,7,8.  Level 9 is bumps and we do have a couple excellent instructors for that.  We can teach what you want from carving to survival in crud.  It's your choice.  But Jimmy is right. Upper level group will probably be a private.
