...lived in Girdwood(Aleyaska ski town outside of Anchorage) for a bit, and have to say that Anchorage has one of the most impressive trail systems throughout the city that I have seen anywhere...you can walk, bike, ski almost to any location in the city on that trail system...almost every road had a paved or maintained trail beside it or over/under it---I remember hearing at one point it was law that if a road was built than a trail had to be built beside it...even remote towns like Talketna had awesome trails beside roads....have to admit that it was hard to get used to the occasional moose run in on the trails, even in Anchorage--best thing to do was to get a large object in between yourself and the moose---like a car...in Girdwood we had to keep a head up for Grizzlies on the trails, especially behind the park! hope to get back up there one of these days...

Poor guy (or gal?) probably thought they were in line for the zipline. That's a pretty sheepish expression for a moose.

My neighbor, who's been to Alaska in the summer, tell's stories of seeing people out walking their dogs with shotguns in tow.
