Weather elsewhere?

I really didnt pay attention this year due to the disappointment on our front. Was the weather throughout the rest of the country or, possibly still as CRAZY as it has been on the east?
I've heard there is a causation for this, but do not recall the actual reason.
Was hoping some weather gurus could explain it potentially. I'm pretty sick of hearing that global warming is the cause only to see it snow record amounts the next season. Or recently, a precursor to the chaos that is believed to be the end, .... 2012, end of the world type of talk.
It does concern me that things normally squashed durign the cold months, and the potential weather conditions from such EXTREME temps outside the norm will present ramifications beyond a poor ski season...of course I'd never pass on such crazy notions as doomsday precursors, one does have to wonder if there is something ominous on the horizon with such wildly bizarre weather though.

Pacific NW (Alaska, Wash, Ore) had a banner, if not record year. Taos and southern CO were very good early, not sure about the rest of the season.
Rest of the U.S. pretty much sucked by their standards (but still had some snow.) Western U.S. may be catching up in the past week or so with the current weather pattern.
Europe - record cold and plenty of snow(?).
Whistler had a banner year and continues to do so. I keep getting email updates almost daily that they received significant snow (at least 4 inches in a 24 hour period) at mid mountain.
I lived in Washington state for about a year...too poor to ski then but I did get up enough gas money to head to the mountains a couple times to escape rainy Seattle..And what a site!..Snow beyond anything I had dreamed of..& as scenic as it gets..
Here are some stats for stevens pass ski area...an area in size between snowqualmie pass & Crystal mtn. what I love about these Mountains is you dont have to worry about elevation and it normaly doesnt get too cold..many times hovering right around freezing. They have recieved almost 11 feet of snow for march so far..they just extended the season till may.. and it will snow pretty good for the next week. I have to figure out a way to retire early!
Snowfall & Terrain
Stevens has lots of it, averaging 450" of snowfall each year, 105" of annual average snowpack, covering 1,125 acres of skiable terrain, including 37 major runs and numerous bowls, glades and faces.
Base area elevation 4,061'
Top elevation Cowboy Mountain 5,845'
Top elevation Big Chief Mountain 5,600
Mill Valley base elevation 3,821'
1,800 vertical feet on three sides of two different mountains.

Stephens Pass, 2 years ago, looking down the ridge between backsisde (left)and frontside (right). Feel's kind of like a PNW version of Brighton. Neat place.
